Dr Michelle Rijsdijk

Medical Scientist/Laboratory Director

Dr Michelle Rijsdijk is the Lab Director and Senior Embryologist at Ruach Fertility Clinic.

She obtained her undergraduate as well as post graduate degrees from the University of Stellenbosch in addition to completing her internship training at Tygerberg Reproductive Medicine Unit in 2004 under the guidance of Prof T. Kruger and Dr ML Windt De Beer. Coming from an academic background, her goal is to maintain personalized patient care as well as superior laboratory outcomes. Her focus is to improve IVF outcomes through better sperm selection methods which was also part of her PhD dissertation. She strives to improve patient and clinician awareness of fertility problems as well as the correct management of all patients requiring reproductive assistance.

Dr Michelle is passionate about the continued scientific advancement in the field as well as that of her peer embryologists, therefore she lectures as part of continued education. She has been a parttime lecturer for Central University of Technology and is also part of the assessment of academic writings from other teaching institutions.

Dr Michelle is also part of the SASREG Embryology Committee Special Interest Group (SIG) which strives for improved patient care by promoting better embryology practices as well as working together, as a community, to solve problems.
